The Chief Executive Officer of India’s Ola Electric, Bhavish Aggarwal said there may be more fires in electric scooters in the future but such incidents are very rare. He commented on the issue of fire at a private company event. The issue of fire was heightened by a fire in one of its scooters in March.
Ola Scooters fires incidents are one of the incidents that circulated an uproar on social media and an investigation by the Indian Government.
SoftBank Company of Japan backed the Ola Electric scooters and recalled more than 1400 e-scooters and appointed external experts to investigate the cause of the fire issue.
The CEO responded to the question asked in a private event on Sunday over the issue of fire “Will there be an occurrence in the future, there might be,” said the Ola Electric Scooter CEO.
He also added “But our commitment is that we will make sure we analyse every issue and if there are fixes to be done we will fix them,” Aggarwal’s comment as per the recording from the event.
The Indian government has also noticed the issue of fire in e-scooters, currently, private companies are landing them in the overpopulated and cheap market region.
Aggarwal said the Ola had just one incident among its 50,000 e-scooters on the road. He added, “There will be, sometimes, some minor defects in, maybe the cell, maybe something else, which will cause some internal short circuit.”
